Starting a side creative business when you have a job

Starting Fabric Drawer has been so much more than creating art to sell. It’s been something I can focus on that’s solely for me. It’s gotten me through feeling unfulfilled creatively from work, the early years of having kids, the covid pandemic and continues to be an important part of my life despite the challenges of running a small business. Recently I wrote a blog post for Sketch Design Repeat on how to start a side creative hustle when you’re working (or have other responsibilities). It’s not easy finding time and energy when you’ve got so many other things happening, but it’s not impossible.

I share what’s worked for me and how I’ve carved time to build up this little business of mine. It’ll time time, patience and a lot of grit.

Having my own side business has allowed me to create designs I like, work with clients, make products and sell them at markets.
